You're Invited to the Reel Girls Project Screening! - FILMMAKERS IN ATTENDANCE!

The UNCW Reel Girls Project is an independent study at the University of North Carolina Wilmington co-taught by faculty from Women's Studies, Film Studies and Sociology. UNCW students involved in the independent study are Film Studies and Sociology majors, some with Women's Studies minors.

Throughout the Spring semester the faculty advisors assisted the UNCW students in developing and implementing a joint UNCW/DC Virgo Middle School documentary filmmaking workshop. The four participating college students (Ashli Bogart, Hillary Hood, Lexi Lefkowitz and Meghann Sumner) produced a three-day workshop in which they mentored twenty-five DC Virgo middle-school girls in the production of their own short independent documentary films.

The final projects will be shown in Lumina Theatre Tuesday, May 1st at 630pm. Q&A with our young filmmakers will follow. Please join us!

Admission is free and open to the public. If you have any questions regarding the project please leave a comment with your email address and we will get back to you as soon as possible.
